Read from September 06 to 27, 2011

I am certainly a fan of Chet and Bernie. This time around - the 4th adventure - the "Little Detective Agency" is trying to locate a missing child. On top of that, broad characterizations ground the story with humor and intrigue. Even Bernie's sometime girlfriend is back and ready to accept him unconditionally, a rare trait indeed.

Who am I kidding.. we read these books to hear from Chet and he is back in true form. His dogs view world remains limited but author Spencer Quinn still keeps him interesting and clear in observation. Chet even gets to interact directly with his best friend Iggy in this one. Maybe we'll even get to see some familial intrigue in subsequent adventures?

These stories are a quaint, easy read. But I would recommend taking a break between each episode because I felt the need to read all the way through them back to back. I think a delay between readings would make elements that are repetitive then seem happily familiar.

The dog who knew too much is recommended. A light, fun read.
