This was an ok read. I think it was a well crafted story, very clever but still, for me it dragged in the last third, up until the final 2 or 3 chapters. Set in a suburban town/city in England around a private school for boys/young men. The Author had experience teaching in such a place and it shows. Very insightful. I also appreciated the presence of Latin in the story. I'm glad I read it but may not revisit it. Harris is good at getting into people's head and the alternating narrators works well, keeps a reader thinking and involved.

On the negative, it's one of those reads where I felt like I needed to take notes to keep track of all the minor characters. They are vital to the story but by the time I found out why, I'd forgotten what I knew about them. I guess that was my problem, not the author's. I whiled away a few weeks of dismal winter nights with this and enjoyed it. Oh, if ya see a copy of it, pick it up and read it. You'll learn some Latin maybe and the ending is worth th...more
