If you have never met George, be prepared to laugh as the poor pup's mother tries to understand why George can't bark.
Funny, sweet, and very expressive drawings by Feiffer enhance the story. The use of repetition and silliness will appeal to young children- and their parents!

SLJ: Young readers will roar with laughter at this slapstick farce with simple line drawings, set against pastel backgrounds, which convey a full range of emotions.

PW: In just a few pen strokes and just a few words Feiffer outlines the playful scenario of a pup who cannot say arf.... The pen and ink close-ups of the dogs and vet are studies in minimalism and eloquence...

Claudia Hi Jody, You got a wealth of description into three sentences! For sure this makes me want to take a look at the book. It would be helpful to know more precisely what age of "young children" you think would enjoy it. Are the drawings big enough to use the book in a storytime? Funny ones are always good to have on hand. Thanks for bringing it to our attention! -- Claudia
