A collection of 26 essays by women of all ages and life stages. The title comes from Virginia Woolf's concept of "an angel in the house", the traditional mother who sacrificed herself for everyone else in the family. This book condensed basically everything I've been struggling with in the last 10 years or so trying to balance jobs, family, community, etc. Most of the essays were very strong, and all of them were interesting. My husband is now reading it, I think in hopes he will glean some secret knowledge to help him understand me better. (Good luck with that!) Thanks to Catherine for turning me onto this book!
