Wulf & Cassandra's story was a nice read. As a Dark-Hunter, Wulf has killed Daimons and Apollites. Apollites are cursed to live to their 27th birthday and die a slow, agonizing death. There's an out clause for the cursed race, become a Daimon by draining a human of his or her soul and extend their life. Cassandra is an Apollite eight months away from her birthday. She is hunted by her own race and Daimons. When Wulf and Cassandra meet they feel a connection. Romance ensues.

This story has it's cheesy moments. It also has touching moments that can make a reader cry. (I cried a few times.) It also shares the same timeline as Zarek's and Talon's stories, so don't feel like you skipped a book. The nice thing about this book is that gives an Apollites perspective. The unfairness of their curse, the paths they choose, whether to become Daimon (and there are different types), commit suicide the day before their birthday, or have someone there to hold their hand when they die. There were some things about the story that weren't explained adequately but it's an nice read between books.
