I listened to this book over a period of three months and read portions on my Kindle. I don't think this was a good choice with such a novel. I followed it well yet feel as I missed some of the intellect of the book. I like very much Bronte's heroines. Lucy did not seem very mysterious to me, yet that might be because in our time strong and independent women exist in measure. Yet, at times, my heart hurt for her as she worked to become someone in a society that expected women to marry and take care of her husband and become a twittering housewife and mother. This novel is very good and if you enjoyed Jane Eyre, I believe you will enjoy this novel as well. It drags a bit three-quarters of the way through but stay on until the end. It is well worth it!
