I don't normally read romance novels, but every once in a while I'll pick one up either thinking it's something else, or I don't have anything more my style on hand, and as long as it's not too smutty, I usually do enjoy them. This one happened to be a free download, so while I couldn't sleep last night, but didn't want to turn the light on, I pulled it up on my phone, and read through it in about 3 hours. (Never did get back to sleep.)
Cute story overall. I was pleased to discover the premise was not too cliche and the characters were actually quite likeable. The author conveys emotion quite well, writing the reader's emotional state as much as the characters... especially when that emotion is tension!
The dramatic irony of the mutual misunderstanding did get rather frustrating after a while, as the discrepancy would have been made obvious by any of a thousand comments/questions that I would expect to come up over the course of the week, so part of my thought they should have cleared it up long before they did... while part of me wants to see what happens in an alternate version where he doesn't go home yet and figures it out mid-event, or just takes off traveling again and doesn't find out until [arbitrary time period] later.
The ending seemed a bit abrupt too, but that might just be me... I'm never really satisfied with endings. But it was pretty fun read... would make a nice little tv movie!
