it was amazing

Did not realize as I read this that it as the first Harry Hole... I read Red Star a while ago. This one mentions some earlier incidents in Harry's life in Australia, but not much detail, so I thought there might be even earlier Harry books, but perhaps not. Harry is detailed to protect a motor convoy going to a summit meeting of heads of state. There are parallel stories involving Norwegians fighting with the Germans against Russia during WWII. These events set the stage for a present day plot that Harry races to diffuse without knowing its full extent. In light of recent events in Norway, this exploration of the nationalist far right is fascinating. A deep and complex novel with many layers.

Tom I thought "the bat man" was the first one. Not out in English the last I looked. I could be wrong. :)

Teri You are right... Batman and Cockroach are the first two... neither has been translated into English. I gather from reviews (in Norwegian, but Bablefish translations into English...) that these are not of the same standard as the later titles... I can send you the reviews if you are interested...
