A good mystery from an author new to me. This is a very present-day book based in Tibet with an "outcast" Chinese protagonist. It brings up some interesting parallels in spirituality and spiritual practices between what most people would consider two totally different cultures - not Tibet and China, there's another culture involved here that I won't get into because I don't want to spoil the book. There is also some insight into both the present-day Tibetan and Chinese cultures, so very pertinent. The mystery itself is well told.
