I read this book a few years ago and haven't reread it lately, so I'm not going into details. But I don't keep many books and I have quite a few from Barr's series, and I highly recommend them. Well written, interesting plots, great character development. Barr's main character is a park ranger, and Barr has the ability to really put you in whatever situation Anna is in - running out of air at the bottom of Lake Michigan, baking in a protective tent during a forest fire, trapped without light in a cave. The books are also a great way to vicariously visit US National Parks.

The first book is not the best in the series, nor are the most recent ones, but there are some outstanding books in the middle, including this one, which is one of my favorites.
