It's beautiful all the way through. I don't know what it is, but even though his tellings are untraditional (there are, for example 8 dwarves), the context, symbolism, and everything else just feels so right that I'm surprised it's not intuitive just hearing the fairytale as we know it. I do like Confessions (Cinderella) and Wicked better, but that's only because he dove into the characters of Iris and Elphaba much more deeply than he did with Bianca. A lovely, lovely book and highly recommended.
