Read from September 04 to 12, 2011

I don't think Auster's heart or head was in this one. Stiff dialog, implausible plot, annoying narrative structure. He deliberately gives away an easy source of dramatic tension by removing all shame or repercussions from the incest theme. I sense Auster was trying to recreate an incomprehensible myth, as a reference to the one that appears briefly in the novel. Fortunately Invisible was so forgettable that I should be able to enjoy a better effort by him within the coming year.
