Waiting: A Novel

slow lorises are SO amazing! sometimes they scurry more quickly than their name suggests though, maybe too quickly for this book.
did you see that story about a man who beat another man with a hedgehog? I am not making this up. I'm sure I read this book but I don't remember a single thing about it...
Funny, I liked the waiting. It wasn't, as the song goes, the hardest part. This was one of those rare books that I loved despite all expectation and/or aesthetic proclivity.
Oh my god, I DID see that story! You're not lying! I wasn't too happy about that story, though; I just don't know if hedgehogs like being wielded as weapons. They're peaceable creatures.
Quite honestly, one of the few things I actually remember about the experience of reading this book is the afore-mentioned crotch ache.

This book did make me feel like I was waiting, so maybe it did what it set out to do. But it wasn't a good kind of waiting. It was the kind of waiting I used to do when I would have to go to some government office with my parents and they would make me sit still and behave myself, and I would feel a terrible physical ache in unmentionable parts of my body from having to contain so much desire to fidget. Actually, that sounds a lot more exciting than this book was.
