Wow, this story is unlike Atwood's more post apocalyptic books, which she's known best for. This story takes place over the life of Iris Chase Griffen, which travels back & forth through her recollections of the events of her lifetime, including the suicide of her sister, the death of their father, her disastrous marriage to Richard, the loss of her daughter Aimee, & through it all, the long lasting influence of a man named Alex Thomas. This story is sad, but powerful. The characters aren't easily forgotten
