I love how the book is just one big game, played by a pro. White Cate is so unlike all the other YA books.

Cassel, the protagonist, is a humble guy who's good at what he does. He's adorable in that bumbling, endearing sort of way, but he still gets his shit done.

My favourite thing about this book is the detailed and magic world. It's all so well explained- like the gamma waves thing and the rasputin thing which I thought was funny. The plot is full of foreshadowing and (not so subtle) hints about what will happen later which shows that Holly Black didn't just sit down and churn it all out, she planned it and made it work.

The characters are all diverse and quirky- even the people on the goddamn buses and stuff, pink mohawks? Awesome. The whole mafia setting was ingenious and interesting and made the book so unique. Holly Black is definitely one of my favourite YA authors.
