Highly original plot material -- just when you think there's nothing new left to write about Nazism. Great voices and characters, with a plot that engrosses, evocative atmosphere (the claustrophobia of certain scenese in Berlin and Paris is perfectly realized), and surprisingly moving. My only criticism would be that the central love story never quite convinces, but the plot twists and the depiction of friendship (which is far more important to this book than romantic love) do. Will definitely read more from this author.
