To me, this is the essential introduction to Nietzsche. It gets across his brilliance, his passion, his resolve and his humanity. Along with Kierkegaard, he lays the foundation for all of the most important 20th century thought (IMHO, anyway), and this book is how you can best squeeze your brain into Beyond Good and Evil, which is itself a great foundation to launch into the remainder of Nietzsche's body of work.
