The Collected Stories of Eudora Welty
by Eudora Welty
Timothy Schafert read from one of his books at a small group in Hot Springs years ago and told me that this author inspired him (she was still living) and I couldn't believe that I hadn't read it yet. Course she was a failed teacher.
Seems she has influenced many. I attended a wonderful panel on her at the Tennessee Williams fest with people who knew her. I never heard that she was a teacher though. Wonderful photographer, of course -- and some photos of hers that I'd never seen before were also included in the panel.

Since I won't be reading this collection straight through (it's very long!) I figured I'd rate her first collection -- "A Curtain of Green" -- that starts it off, until I get back to the whole. I loved every story so far, and they certainly don't read like the first stories of a new writer. Except for a story here or there in anthologies, this is my first time reading her short stories, and I can't believe it took me this long to get to her.
