This book starts where Geist left off, Deacons Sorcha Faris and Merrick Chambers are still working together. Raed Rossin is in trouble again and they find a way to head off to help him in the far away land of Chioma. Complications ensue.

The world is still compelling, the story is still well told... but this is the middle book of at least a trilogy and it suffers for that. But it definitely had places where I just couldn't put it down and the characters and writing are interesting enough that I will read the next one. But Geist was more compelling. If you haven't started the series, I'd suggest waiting until it is finished.
