I am a HUGE fan of this series and I've been waiting all year for this book to come out, so this review comes straight from my heart:
The first half of the book was awesome. In fact, most of the book was awesome until I realized that it lacked a proper climax. This is why I only gave it four stars. It's a great series. It's a great book. But because the ending didn't give me the same itch for the next book that The Demon King and The Exiled Queen did, I had to give it four stars. Which is good for me in a way, since this time I may be able to stomach the year or so before the next book comes out.
Now, I'm not saying that you shouldn't read it. You should. If for nothing else than the events in the middle, in which Han and Raisa are both freaking awesome. This book is mostly about Raisa, but Han is particularly badass in a couple parts of this book.
The only part of the book which feels like a climax was at the halfway point. The rest of it, although still amazing, seems to be leading into the next book.
Reading through it, you can see where the story is going, which makes me curious. Some think that Raisa had a inconsistency issue between choosing which guy she wants to be with; this is not something that bothered me. If you know how to read between the lines, the events of the next book are pretty obvious. I don't know how Cinda's going to pull it off, but I've already made my conclusions. We'll see if I'm wrong.
