it was amazing
bookshelves: fantasy
Read from May 12 to 23, 2012

This book (books really) is simply outstanding.

Superbly written, cleverly developed and interlocking plots, wonderful characters.

It has everything: Rights of passage; the loss of the familiar (conditions, places, and people), political intrigue, mythical beasts, terrifying adversaries, demons, assassination, maniacal plotting, heroes and heroines, suspense, pace, sorrow, and a pinch of dry humour.

With a variety of vehicles it describes much of the human condition. How those who should know better, are really quite disgusting, how the majority are happy to potter along in apathetic and ignorant bliss clutching to ridiculous lies when threats appear, and the few who are brave enough to stand and be counted and defend, and be chastised and persecuted for their efforts.
