The first half was great - just a straightforward telling of stories of growing up, abuse, prison, escapes and escapades. But the second half read like a professional PR piece, in which he was providing a narrative carefully crafted to respond to other books and media pieces. This seemed to be an effort to rehabilitate his name and absolve himself of responsibility for the worst of the actions of his cult. Personally, I wish I had stopped reading halfway through.
