For those who like their science fiction writ large, with well-imagined worlds and peoples, yet grounded in human (so to speak) emotions and drives, sit back, allocate a reasonable amount of free time and dive into the worlds of the Kreelan and the Humans.

A star-spanning war, an implacable enemy with its own reasons for fighting it, millennia of loss and seeking at the heart of the Kreelan Empire, corruption and integrity within the human confederation, and the search of a human boy raised by Kreelan for his place in the universe.

Honor, heroism, treachery, love, a prophecy and a lost Empress - all the elements of great story delivered with a sure hand.

Michael Hicks does not fail to delight. The omnibus edition combines three novels into one book. I couldn't put it down.
