I selected this book because of the author. Murdock wrote "Dairy Queen" fun book for the YA audience.
I think I have this correct: Murdock's sister is the author of "Eat, Pray, Love."

Princess Ben - Benevolence, was raised by parents who indulged their daughter. Ben lived a care free life, she played with dolls longer than her friends and enjoy fine food. (Ben is plump.)

Her mother is killed and father disappears in what is called the Badger Event. She is sent to live with her aunt the Queen, the king was also killed during the Badger Event. The Queen aims to train a proper princess, Ben doesn't take well to the restrictions of freedom and food.
