I just finished The Alloy of Law. I am a huge fan of Brandon Sanderson and absolutely loved the Mistborn trilogy in addition to The Way of Kings and the Wheel of Time books he is finishing for Robert Jordan.

It was nice to be back in this world again about three hundred years into the future. Having a mystery to solve was interesting and I appreciated some witty banter between characters.

Nevertheless, I found this novel to be underwhelming. I really wanted to like it but unfortunately thought the plot was too simplistic, repetitive, and predictable. Furthermore, I had major issues with the plot concerning some scenes.

I am glad to read reviews of others really enjoying The Alloy of Law and I wish I felt the same way. Although lighthearted and a quick read, it just did not work for me.

Kevin Xu I felt it was too cliche to be any good, and I too see way too many people especially all my friends, who just fell in love the two main characters.
