How it says in the synopsis of the hardcover edition: "Reminiscent of the movie Say Anything".
For reading other reviews I thought I wan't going to like it, and then reading the first pages, my suspicion was getting confirmed. But then, I couldn't stop reading, seriously, I said 'I'm going to stop' but I kept reading, my eyes had live of their own, so I stick to it. And yes, like everyone else said, every time the phrases "and I go..." and "I'm like...", I swear I'd scream in my head 'Susane, you're trying too hard!!".
But I got over that (ignoring those annoying words when I read them) and concentrate to the story line and the characters. Which the first was predictable but lovable, and the later were nicely developt, cute, funny and felt very real.
Then, I also liked the book because I'm a sucker for any reminiscent of the 90's. A huge fan of John Hughes right here. And this definitely has a 90's-John Huges-teen movie's vibe.
So, if you're into that, you'll enjoy this book.
