really liked it
Read from September 01 to 03, 2011

I'd give this 3 1/2 stars if I could. I don't think it quite earned four but we'll go with it. I loved learning about 11th Century Scotland and I loved the characterization of Gruadh as a fiesty, strong, and brave girl grown into a queen. Her relationship with MacBeth is both tender and practical as well as being very believable. I love it when authors can spin a fictional historical tale filling in the gaps in history with logical conclusions about what could have really happened. Some stories completely defy logic to satisy the authors whim but I felt like Fraser King stayed true to the characters and to the feeling she had created for Scotland.
