Why in the world did it take me so long to start reading this series? Every recommendation I'd ever received was correct. It's the perfect summer read: thrilling, yet light enough not to be taken too seriously; a quick read with enough substance that I don't feel guilty for loving it. For those of you living under a rock, Dead Until Dark is told from the perspective of blonde-haired blue-eyed 25-year-old waitress Sookie Stackhouse who works at Merlotte's Bar in the sleepy northern Louisiana town of Bon Temps. Then a vampire moves into town and nothing will ever be the same. A compelling story that happens to contain vampires, a little romance, and a little mystery, this book has something to offer a wide range of readers.
