Really I'd like to give this book 3.5 stars, but if I can't do half scores, I'm bumping it down to a 3. I really wanted to fall in love with this book, and while it definitely had some wonderful aspects (ie. the circus itself and several of the secondary characters like Bailey, Poppet & Widget, and Tsukiko), I really couldn't get into the main plot itself. The love story was incredibly weak to me, and I really never found myself wrapped up in the story of these two "star-crossed lovers". Part of the problem was likely that I never developed any fondness for Marco, but I really just didn't care about the romance aspect of this book. Erin Morgenstern created a really beautiful and intricate world, and while I'd love to visit Le Cirque des Reves, I'd be very happy to attend and be blissfully unaware of the overly dramatic lives of the main two involved in its well-being. (Also, I found it painfully obvious as to how the challenge would have to end - how did neither Marco or Celia realize that sooner? Ridiculous.)
