"Truth is stranger than fiction" Man, am I a strong believer in that statement and this creepy, disturbing, enlightening and GREAT book is an excellent reason why.

First - let me thank the author, David King, and the publishers at Crown for putting this early copy on the Goodreads/Firstreads giveaway program. I was excited to receive it and now - even more thrilled that I own it and can highly recommend it.

This is a great book. Now, true, the subject matter of a grizzly serial killer during an already horrible time in history (Nazi occupation of Paris) may not be for everyone - I was amazed at how many amazing and enthralling tales and characters flow throughout the pages. King not only gives us stories of the notorious serial killing, but a very clear picture of the very dirty world of Paris at the time...rife with gangsters, whores, Nazis, informants, fake resistance groups and more. I'm not sure I've ever learned so much from a non-fiction book in a more entertaining way about a time in history that most would rather forget. I could go on - but do not want to give too much away. Fans of history, true crime, mystery, horror - and just good writing, should snatch this book up and be scared, disgusted, learn and enjoy.
