Read from September 11 to November 07, 2011

“Dancing Her Dreams Away” by Alretha Thomas is a delicately written, high-spirited romance novel filled with cascading mature adventures. It appears to capture the drama of a fun-loving grandma’s girl named Shelia King as she pursues her dream of getting into stardom. She becomes a dancer for hire waiting on that magical role that would catapult her to the top. Instead, she finds a darkened road, and gets exposed to the raw exploitation and the scheming deception of unscrupulous agents and the injurious night life. And as each audition takes away from her more and more of her innocence, she begins to fear her grandmother’s disapproval. Later on, she meets a producer whom she feels has all the right stuff to get her to the top. But after giving him her all, she discovers the secrets of his past, and it destroys all the hopes she could ever dream. This novel is written in a charming way but it should come with a warning ‘For the mature reader only’.
