As Claire celebrates her 17th birthday, Amelie is still missing in action. Morganville is under the rule of Bishop, gone are the good old days when vampires had some laws that they lived by. Michael has been bitten by Bishop, Claire has been tattooed by Bishop and both are now faithful to him, Shane was locked in a prison cell with his father, and Eve is on her own in the Glass House. Will the four who were once so tight ever be able to sit in the same room once again? You will have to read the book to find out. New character's you will meet along the way: Dean, a quiet student at the college, who's emo style might be just a bit deceaving. Ada, one of Myrnin's old apprentices, and we thought they were all dead. And then there is Pennywell, not a whole lot we can say, mainly because we really don't know much about this one. This book started a little slow, and I really wanted to slap Claire upside her head, but once you got past the first few chapters, it really picke up. Will be interesting to see what happens in Morganville now that new laws have been put into place.
