This is a lightweight book, despite the author's attempt to give the killer's motive a psychologically deep source, but not bad at all. There are some great quotes from Jane Austen, William Faulkner, Oscar Wilde, Samuel Butler, and other literary greats, and one charming one from Victor Borge. The Jane Austen "hook" is very slight, but it's there and not poorly used. However, it does make the ultimate romantic angle too predictable.
