liked it

This book is the beginning of K.L. Fogg's debut series, Serpent Tide. The story it presents is pleasant, but very unbelievable. The Suspension of Disbelief wears very thin throughout much of this book, but you become used to it as the book progresses, so it becomes less of a problem. The story is easily identified as a debut, it has rough edges and a semi-finished end. There is no real cliffhanger, but you feel as though something is missing. I enjoyed this, along with the rest of the series, but it is nothing phenomenal.
I would recommend this book for intermediate-advanced elementary students and those looking for a quick read.
