Well. This book dragged me in. To be honest, I hadn't been expecting much from it, but I was so wrong. First of all, I have say that Stef Penney is a fantastic writer. I read her first novel, The Tenderness of Wolves, a while back and really liked that too.

I was dying to know what happened to Rose Janko. It when it was revealed that (view spoiler), I had this sinking feeling that I knew who was. And I was right. I don't mean to say that it was an obvious ending, I'm sure a lot of people wouldn't figure it out. I actually wanted to be wrong, because in some ways it is incredibly disturbing. On the other and though, it was incredibly well written. Very believable, and I loved Sandra's reaction when she found out.
