Jake Campbell and Brandon Bartlett work at the same high school and have just about as much in common now as they did when they went to the same high school together. In the typical jock and nerd storyline, Madeleine Urban bring these two men together after years of being part of different worlds. Jake is the coach of the baseball team and they have a shot at state this year but they lost one of the assistant coaches. Brandon, a science teacher and tutor, is told he will have to fill in the role even though baseball is well out of his comfort zone. I like the way these two men become friends and Brandon finds a place he belongs outside of the science classroom with Jake and the other coaches. I also like the way Brandon's love of running helps him impress the kids and the other coaches. The book of course has a very sweet HEA ending.
