it was amazing

This was a very good book. It certainly brought back lots of memories for me. I was raised by a black woman from Vicksburg Mississippi whom I loved dearly. The last time I saw her was when my son was six months old. She still had her strong opinions about the South. She wanted equal rights for the south but not necessarily integration. The book went into a lot of detail about each maid. How the civil rights movement affected them and the unfairness of their life. I also found it interesting about how the south treated the girl who wrote the book. She became an outcast in her white world, but was loved by the black world she championed. I think if anyone wants to read how the south treated a segment of their society in the 60's you will enjoy the read no matter what sex you are.
