Rules of Civility tells the story of Katy Kontent's 1938. When she and her roommate Eve Ross meet handsome, wealthy Tinker Grey on New Year's Eve, a friendly competition starts between them to gain his affection. By spring, the rivalry develops into a romantic love triangle. After a terrible car accident in which Eve is disfigured, Katy backs out only to find that their triangle may have been a square. Narrated by Rebecca Lowman who fetches New York 1930's gin and jazz, decorating characters with her accents. A swell tale full of ring-a-ding-ding atmosphere and a leading lady who is hard boiled aces. Recommended to fans of The Adults by Alison Espach.
