This was a brilliant book! Having just recently read the Virgin Suicides I can see how Eugenedes has grown as a storyteller. The holes in Virgin were filled in Middlesex. It is so perfectly and thoroughly written, a masterpiece!

He is very descriptive, and every scene played out in my head as if I were watching a movie. The book is really like an epic, telling the story from the standpount of Cal, but also telling the story of his parents, grandparents, while weaving in historical events.

It's clear he did his homework, about Detroit, Greece, and biology. It is a pageturner, but not a quick read. It's so rich that you will want to take your time with it. I reccomend it to anyone!
