I seldom read adult fiction books and I'm glad that I gave this Rachel and Darcy series a try because I instantly got hooked from the moment I started reading the first book, Something Borrowed a year ago. I wasn't able to make a review about that, but it was intriguing and riveting enough for me to read the second installment, Something Blue.

Something Borrowed was told in the point of view of Rachel, whereas Something Blue was in Darcy's. It was nice to know both sides of the story, especially the part of the so-called "antagonist", Darcy. I didn't know why, but ever since the first book I was already fascinated with Darcy's character, so I was glad that I got to see her point of view.

Here are some of my random comments:

1. It was nice to see how the character of Darcy matured from being a self-absorbed bitch to a more empathetic person. It was really amazing to see what true love can do.

2. I thought Ethan's character would end at Something Borrowed when Rachel went home to New York from London. I've already liked him then and I was really surprised that he would play a major role in Darcy's life. I never thought that they would click with each other considering how Darcy treated him back in high school.

3. I also felt torn between Ethan and Geoffrey. The latter was the image of my perfect man-- smart, has good looks, caring, wealthy, and a doctor who loves kids. Considering Darcy's unemployed and pregnant status in London, Geoffrey is the more practical choice. However, Ethan never got short of taking care of Darcy, unfortunately he already had a girlfriend.

4. The story was really good and didn't only dwell with romantic love. It also tackled issues about friendship, forgiveness and knowing one's self. It was written well, discussing serious matters that could happen in real life with a mix of humor, so it wasn't a heavy read.

If only there was a sequel to this book I would definitely read it, but I don't think there was. Maybe I'll try reading other novels from Emily Giffin. Her stories reminded me of my other favorite adult-fiction author, Sophie Kinsella.
