really liked it
bookshelves: non-fiction, tween, teen

** spoiler alert ** This book covers drawing both male and female figures; change figures expressions, designing a character, motion, details, and so much more. The characters in the book are from famous manga illustrators and therefore may be too difficult for beginners as a start. The purpose of this book is for artists and manga lovers to create their own characters. Readers will learn the fundamentals of figure design and the details that manga so popular. Those that attempt this art will learn to appreciate the skill that it takes to draw manga.
The illustrations in this book are magnificent. One will have fun practicing the facial expressions to make the characters come to life. Although most of steps are to advance for a non-artist, I enjoyed drawing sounds and playing with the size of the text. The look who’s talking component of the book, allowed me to understand how to read graphic novels depending on character position and location of the character’s balloon. This book brings insight into the art of manga, with practice and determination even though they are not professional artists.
