really liked it
bookshelves: must-read

I read this book in its original German version as part of a class assignment in high school. Back then, while I was shocked at the story, I simply didn't get it.

I re-read this book in my early 20s - and boy, did I get it then. The story of a woman who through irresponsible reporting is dragged into the limelight and at the end of her rope, kills her tormentor, is still valid today. We have all seen reports about people who are falsely accused and thus exposed to ridicule and condemnation.

This book is a wake-up call to all journalists, real or tabloid, to verify their sources and facts before putting anything in print or out on the web that could possibly devastate an innocent life.

Highly recommend it.
