I won an advanced reader's copy of this book through goodreads. I really enjoyed the novel. It starts out as contemporary fiction, but then about halfway through switches to more of a historical feel with the introduction of a series of letters written during the Civil War. Having remained unsent and not meant for anyone else's eyes, these letters end up being more of a diary of the author's thoughts and feelings. This was my favourite part of the novel since I'm more of a historical fiction fan. The premise of the novel is whether there truly is a ghost haunting a Civil War era mansion or if these ghosts have been created by the characters themselves when under stress and forced to make life choices. I highly recommend this novel especially for fans of the American Civil War. I'm so thrilled that I was chosen to receive this book.
