A very easy book to read, possibly because it's written from the viewpoint of a child and so often has very simple vocabulary and sentence structures. However, this does not affect the impact of the story at all and the author is very clever in the way in which she conveys what is happening in Room from the perspective of the 5 year old. The first part of the book is definitely more dramatic than the second and I found myself racing ahead to see what the outcome of this section would be. The second part is slightly slower in pace and gives the reader plenty to think about in terms of how the characters will deal with what has happened in the future. An enjoyable book which I read very quickly - however, I didn't LOVE it, possibly because I didn't feel like I particularly related to any of the characters even though I could appreciate the horror of their situation.
