Falls short of the type of intellectual consistency one comes to expect from Lewis’ canon of work, but then again, he does not pretend to be delivering a deep work of scholarship. Rather, he intends to relate to the common person by, in a sense, comparing notes on some struggles he encountered while reading the Psalms. His chapter on “praising” really helps redeem the inconsistency, and reaches the height of what one expects from a powerful work of Lewis.
