It was great to learn the "family tree" of the vampires. i don't agree with some of the negative reviews, but then again, not everyone wants an in-depth look a series they've come to know and like.
Now that we have the background information of the Great Family, and we've seen the vampires come together to stop the slaughter, you can feel a better respect for them. i can see a better scope in the attitudes and lifestyles of the immortals now having read this. And i must say, without this novel, i don't think the series would stand too firmly.
Not all good points though....how does the most unstoppable and frightening Queen of the Damned get killed off so easily? *tsktsk* Mrs. Rice, i was expecting something a little more extraoridnary.
But other than that little bump, this novel is an interesting tapestry of history and seduction. DO NOT, i repeat, do not use the movie verion of this as a comparison. Hollywood did a terrible job at blending "The Vampire Lesta...more
