Any story that takes you to another time in place is worth reading, and Alan Furst's novel about the French and Hungarian (anti-nazi) resistance pre-WWII is a literary time-machine in the best sense! Nicholas Morath is a terrific protagonist who runs an advertising agency by day and smuggles European fugitives over borders by night while spending time with his Mistress. Imagine if 'Mad Men's Don Draper lived in 1938 Paris and you're on your way. An excellent book and a must for historical/mystery fans!
