This book is amazing. I wanted to read it from the moment I heard about it. And then after I saw author Stéphane Hessel speak on BookTV, I went about buying it right away.

The text is short but incredibly insightful and eloquent, even in translation. Hessel writes of resistance and the struggle needed to attain and maintain universal human rights. As a fighter in the French Resistance who went on to work on the Universal Declaration of Human Rights adopted by the General Assembly of the United Nations in 1948, he knows of what he speaks. This book is clear and inspiring, the quintessence of an argument that seems so self-evident yet which is so hard to accomplish. I absolutely loved it. Brilliant.
