With the economy in the doldrums and unemployment seemingly unable to break though that nine percent floor, what better time for a book on re-engineering yourself for a career improvement. And while Fogel’s book focuses on those that have jobs moving up through the ranks (your inner intrapreneur), his advice is bound to help anyone who wants to get ahead in the business world.

While Fogel doesn’t necessarily cover a lot of topics that would be considered new to the discussion (time management, self assessment, modeling, learning new skills, etc.) it is the detail and delivery of the information that works so effectively. Like most authors, he comes up with some of his own branded techniques (the F.R.A.M.E. method, crating a Mastermind group, etc.) as well.

By detailing the steps necessary to achieve each chapter’s goals thru specific action plans (delegation, how to shred email, getting to work early even mastering the art of the two minute shower!), Fogel delivers a tight yet comprehensive gameplan for getting on the fast track to success.

The fact that the author was a one time stand-up comic and television comedy writer helps the words go down easy and combined with his experience on the business lecture circuit (where he appears as “the Reinvention Guy”), he seems to have a comfortable bedside manner that helps make the messages sink in.

While not the first book to tackle the topic of career success, “Reboot Your Career: 27 Ways to Reinvent Yourself in the Workplace” is as much of a useful, punchy (and fun) read as any book we’ve seen on the subject lately – even if you just enjoy it for the comics!
