** spoiler alert ** This seems like a young adult novel to me. Everything's just a little too simple. I found myself saying, "Of course you do," way too many times. I'm on the run from the bad guys, but luckily I have millions of dollars all of a sudden so I rent a secret apartment filled with the very latest technology. Of course you do! This all-powerful guy comes out of nowhere to save the day & sends private jets to pick us all up & take us to his fortress. Of course he does! But how did he hear our plans, the ones we thought were totally secret? Oh, his avatar can break into private chat rooms uninvited even though he's the only one who can. Of course he can!

That's not to say that this book is bad, however. It's entertaining, it's short and sweet and it all proceeds & works out exactly as you want it to. And who can resist geeking out for Ladyhawke debates, acting out War Games as Matthew Broderick, the endless awesome throwback video games, and the OASIS. Lord, the OASIS. I wish I could live there.
